It's time to stop explaining away things we don't like or don't understand as forms of mental illness.
Bigotry and oppression are formed out of many complex social, cultural, and political factors. They are not (usually) mental illness.
Calling something crazy or a phobia creates room for excuses. It deflects responsibility away from individuals and structures.
It’s also kind of terrible because oppressed groups are attacked with mental illness stereotypes and prescribed psychology all of the time.

i went and bought some new shoes yesterday because i needed them-my shoes were literally falling apart and now my mom is on the phone with her bf talking about how i should've taken my sister with me b/c she needed some too.

My sister is 31 and still needs my parents to tell her what to do. like she hit a deer and the first thing she did was call my mom. sister you should know how to handle these things by now.
