After some really deep digging, Reddit user finds the only "big female philosopher": Ayn Rand
i've only learned through trial and error like this year not a single goddamned cucumber where they thrived the previous year and then i learned about nitrogen fixing plants. knowing a little about companion planting and crop rotation is good. also what can handle shade/part shade/full sun.
oh i'd also look into lawn replacements. i scattered a mix of dwarf clover and flowers and i've had all kinds of little pollinator friends helping me out. as a result my aphid problem was negligible this year and lots of tiny bird friends got some food.
nayrt omfg this rly should have been posted in october bc its more horrifying than any creepy pasta I've read lmao
oooh googling this brought up so many prettypictures, i love that a lot! i h8 grass so much and im allergic to it so its perfect lol
so do you ust have clovers and flowers instead of grass?

“But,” my grandfather said, “you have to take two zucchini for every tomato.”
lmao
he inner 8 rows, however, created this hybrid monstrosity that we called Squish. It was pretty– a nice swirly yellow and green combination that made it clear the squash and zucchini had interbred.
Squish became a living nightmare for us. Something about the hybridization caused them to forget how to stop growing, or at least how to grow at a normal rate because those suckers were longer than my dad’s forearm, and bigger around than my (albeit child-sized) thighs.
omg i love them

“Oh,” she said, intuiting what I meant. “Eating the blossoms. Love stuffed blossoms. Pumpkin, squash, zucchini. It keeps the crop down, and you get lots of mileage out of them. You keep a mixed crop that way, too. Plus, people don’t always welcome gifts of zucchini, but they find gifts of blossoms exciting.”
good, i love squash flowers
good, i love squash flowers
I have a friend with a garden in Oregon who literally made Zucchini Chocolate Chip Cookies and sent them to me in Indiana. I texted her back “I SEE WHAT YOU’RE DOING HERE”
oh if you're trying for milkweed keep in mind it takes about 3 years to get established so don't get too discouraged
*sleeps peacefully in one of those scandinavian antique painted cupboard beds*
*puts handmade quilt on top of u and tucks u in*
*rounds up a fluffy norwegian forest cat to set on top of u to sleep too* sleep well :)))
i'm procrastinating finishing my quilt bc i don't want to do the binding or fix the tension on my machine.
try with a small bb quilt with old tshirts and go from there. it's pretty easy. also fleece is a cheaper filler than traditional quilt batting but will make it rly thick
Somewhere along the line, discipline became "violating rights".
The kids have all the power now, they know it, and they act how shitty kids act when they know they have power. The only thing that will ultimately fix it is removing their power and reminding them that, as children, they are basically one step above animate property. Fuckin' behave or get disciplined until you behave.
That said, I'm crossing my fingers that my value in the workforce skyrockets as these little shits go out for jobs and behave like this. "You can act like a human and do your job without bullshit? All the dollars."
