I am very good at research. When I said in a previous post that I’d done my homework, I did my homework. I could link you to a number of sites and citations as to why I think I have fair grounds to apply a CC license to my fanworks, but I am tired and I shouldn’t actually have to state or offer defense of my case to you, because none of this actually affects you. (If you want to do research on your own time for your own edification, that’s fine, whatever. Start with the Organization for Transformative Works.) Your recent ‘educational’ posts on the matter have been patronizing and, frankly, insulting, and while I’ve previously taken pains not to publicly question your motives, I must express doubts that you’re motivated only by altruistic concerns. You’ve mentioned elsewhere that you have to limit your activities to protect your own well-being. Of this I have no doubt; I wouldn’t insult you by questioning that assertion because that would be supremely shitty of me, but speaking as a fellow spoonie, when I have few emotional or physical reserves to draw on, I can barely muster energy to support my loved ones, or people to whom I’m close (which I do dearly regret), but I can consistently rely on spite to get me out of bed and hold me up. I have not been completely honest in our interactions, to date. For one, I am actually very good at reading tone. Maybe not always perfect at communicating it, but I have excellent reading comprehension. For another thing, I’m extremely tech-savvy. I’ve been working to better develop my understanding of computing and internet technologies in the hopes that expanding my knowledge base will enable me to get a better job. Tumblr’s been quite helpful for that, actually, but I’ve also been investigating SEO and site analytics, which includes the concept of backlinking. It’s extremely poor etiquette in internet discourse to mention content on another site which isn’t obviously and publicly linked from Tumblr, content which I shouldn’t know about, content which you posted under the reasonable assumption that I would never find.
