i did the dialect quiz and i live in south ontario but it told me that the most similar city is seattle wtf

let's cut the shit: YA are children's books. they're written for children, albeit older children. they're increasingly read by adults, and we started calling them "YA" so that the adults reading them could feel better about themselves for reading at a fifth grade level. okay, are we agreed on the terms? good, I'll make my point:
Ender's Game is not a children's book. it happens to be about a child, but it is written for an adult readership. and while the distinction may be somewhat fuzzy in this era of "YA" (which is also just an incredibly dumb acronym to begin with, that always looks ridiculous in a sentence. in fact I want to slap myself right now just for typing it thrice in this post, but I can't because I'm typing) hype, and while it may have been retroactively folded into the YA (frice, I hate myself) genre for obvious reasons, I think it's important that the distinction be made, because the next step is Lolita.
