i would count that as a suicide attempt, because you actually spent time and effort setting everything up for it, even if you backed out before real harm happened

like the fact you were able to complete set up says you were in the same general mindstate as people who attempt, you just had insight early enough to back out you know?

i've ended up in the hospital after a failed attempt and then i ended up in the hospital when i stopped short of going through a second attempt, i consider them both 'suicide attempts'
