the “political lesbian” in the form of the legendary made-up straight woman who claims to be a lesbian purely as a political statement and experiences zero attraction to women is a complete fictional fairy tale that is lesbophobic at its core. the “political lesbian” in the form of the woman who experiences attraction to women and rejects any attraction to men that she may be able to experience, on the other hand, exists and deserves support.
i read this one ya book back in the day and it was basically 'our magic is different.txt' and they had these spells that were like glowing slips of paper and whenever they were used there was a smell of burnt sugar in the air and it had a decent female protagonist but that's all i remember about the books
what was that book called about a girl who ends up on a deserted island and then cannibals come and take her with them, but they don't eat her, they train her to be their doctor and just when she's settled in some rescue expedition takes her away and she ends up drowning in an escape attempt i loved that book
i was very disappointed in the spiderwick chronicles bc it was sold to me as 'the next harry potter' and just ended up being cheesy and distractingly modern
