Had a Steven Universe dream last night.
In it, Rose Quartz was still around but invisible, and always near Steven. She basicaly hung out as a spirit and did running commentary on everything that happened even though no one could see or hear her.
The other SU dream I had was the crystal gems, Greg and Steven visiing Heaven and Rose Quartz talking privately to Pearl about how she needs to let her go/direct that worshipful attitude to God instead of Rose. Oh, and she and Steven huggd it was adorable.

Last week, I decided to stop being “truscum”. If I think about it, I don’t know why I was proud of being called scum in the first place. If enough people who seem to be very cool hate you, maybe there is a good reason.
I used to follow dragonbornself, until last week. I thought they were a decent person who just believed, like I did, some things about trans people as a group. I believed that they were interested in protecting trans people.
I realized that I was wrong.
Over many days, dragonbornself was bothering a lot of trans people. One of them is a trans woman, and some of them are trans people of color (don’t know if women/non-binary). I won’t name them because even though the truscum community says that they don’t bother people, they do. I’m posting this from this blog a week later because the truscum community will attack me too, if I admitted this from my own blog. But I have unfollowed everyone I know who identifies as this because I can’t do this anymore.
Even though I am ex-truscum, I am going to include myself because I participated in this too.
The truth about truscum on tumblr, from someone who used to be one:
Yes, we are almost all white trans men, and yes many of us attack anyone who criticizes our philosophy.
In both public and private, we insult TPoC and try to hurt them if they don’t agree with us. A lot of us are very racist.
I only know one truscum of color and they are half-white.
We will listen to cis people who agree with us over TPoC or trans women who don’t. I’ve seen this many times. A lot of us are also straight trans men who are attracted primarily to cis women, so this is a way for us to find girlfriends. A lot of this is kept private.
Many of the trans men believe we are entitled to women’s spaces and try to get into them if we can. We don’t do anything to help trans women get into those spaces unless we know a specific one and she agrees with us.
We will quote the few trans women, almost all white, and the few PoC who agree with us to fight against criticism, even though we do not have a right to do that.
Like dragonbornself, we get angry when people don’t like us even though we do all of this, and we will attack them and say we didn’t when they fight back. If they curse at us, we will say that “anti-truscum are violent”. A lot of the times these people are trans women or TPoC, many of whom fall into our definition of trans people and have very bad dysphoria. We know that we can hurt them and we laugh later about doing it.
We don’t really read most explanations of why people don’t like us. I read many very good explanations, but my friends said “they were stupid”, so I just agreed with them instead of saying something else. There is a lot of bullying within the community and a lot of pressure to not defend trans women or TPoC who don’t agree with us.
Many of us claim that “if we were given a good reason why, we would stop being truscum”. We have been given good reasons, including that many people should be suspicious of a group of white men and we should too, but we are racist and many of us very misogynist, so we ignore the reasons because they come from women and TPoC.
Even though many of us are very dysphoric, we tend to bring up dysphoria more when we are fighting against trans women and TPoC. It is a silencing tactic and many of us don’t even realize we are doing it to shut up our criticism.
Many truscum do not know what other truscum believe, and barely know what they believe. There are many ideas of it and many people who are too extreme even if some of the ideas might be okay. But we do not examine this very well in the larger community, and if asked to, we just claim that “we can’t get everyone”. We don’t even try.
Almost all truscum knows at least one other truscum who goes beyond what they would do, but they rarely say anything about it and they rarely try to stop it.
I’m very ashamed of the actions of dragonbornself. Even if it was wrong to call them a b*tch, they had been bothering so many people. Even though they said they would stop bothering one of those people, even though that person told them to stop many times, they didn’t and used being called a b*tch as an excuse to keep taking the same actions.
Then, they tried to call that person something very disgusting.
That is abusive manipulation.
I do not condone dragonbornself’s actions, and people who are friends with them, please reconsider. I was just a follower, but these were the actions that finally taught me better. Dragonbornself is a very privileged person and decided to hurt many trans people without as much privilege as them, then blamed the backlash on those trans people.
This is not protecting trans people.
This is protecting privilege.
