pretty much, it reminds me of the "criticizing how women are drawn in comics is awful bc they could choose to wear thongs all the time and that's fine" thing
there are male writers making these choices and, whether you like the canon or not, a lot of these choices suck
I mean shit there was only one female character with any real lines in pacific rim. how is it so out there to say gee maybe it's a little bit sexist

like no I get it take what u can get, i love lots of things that only have one female character
but if she's wearing a miniskirt and likes to be a kissogram it's probably bc moffat gets off on that, not bc amy believes in sexual autonomy and is very hardfemme
oh god how can anyone defend how amy was written? liking a character is one thing but lbr she could've been a cop but he hates women in authority. see also how shit martha was treated even without the racism.
