psa: equality is not favoring one over the other, nor does it mean you treat the majority like shit.

women want equality, but it suddenly doesn’t mean men are the most awful people on earth and don’t deserve to exist.

poc want equality, that doesn’t give you a reason to treat white people like they’re scum.

trans* people want equality, however this doesn’t mean cis people are suddenly vile and awful.

queer people want equality, this doesn’t mean anyone who is heterosexual is completely irredeemable.

listen. i get it. it sucks when you meet someone of the majority and they turn out to be a shitty person. it sucks living your life mostly meeting these shitty people. it’s absolutely shitty to feel like the majority simply just doesn’t understand and never will. as someone who’s hispanic, female, and pansexual, trust me i’ve been there, it’s awful. it can make you miserable and angry, and sometimes when you feel miserable and angry, you get really heated about it. i understand completely.

but you know what?

that’s still not an excuse to generalize. it’s not okay to reblog posts constantly going on about how much white people suck and are awful, just like it’s not okay to constantly yell about the “vile cis scum” or how dumb straight people are. just because you’re in the minority doesn’t give you a pass to be shitty. i know there are shitty people in the majority, and you’re free to be as furious about that as you want.

but don’t generalize.

because equality?

equality means both sides have to treat each other well. so stop treating each other like shit. it helps nothing, and it harms the equality effort as a whole.
