yukidama: if you legitimately believe that DA fandom is more argumentative/wanky/rude than any other, you must be new to this world
b-mommy: Broodmother PR Rep: This. A thousand times this. This is the first fandom I’ve ever actually been active in. That is…
surelyforth: Two words: Supernatural fandom. I’m not in it, have never watched a single episode of the show, but I still know that the fandom has a tendency to be absolutely, completely bonkers.
Also, Tom Hiddleston’s fandom.
And it may somewhat pale in comparison, but back in the day in one of my old fandoms, there was a BNF who apparently genuinely believed that she was dating one of the show’s actors on the astral plane. She claimed to be receiving messages from him via her sister, who was supposedly a psychic. (Said actor has since come out as gay, which makes the whole delusion even more facepalm-worthy.)
So yeah. That sort of thing is why Dragon Age fandom wank, while obviously often very annoying, is still pretty small-time in my eyes.
