i tried really hard to stay with my faith even after coming out as gay because i was still terrified of going to hell and thought i could make up for my sexuality by being an adamant churchgoer and preaching the bible

when i finally had enough of it my lgbt-friendly church led by a gay man treated me as a sub human piece of shit who was giving up and would not have any kind of happy life because of it and blah blah blah "joining the moral-less gays"

as much as i hate orson scott card, i love those books, esp. xenocide. i could really relate a lot to qing-jao when i read them as a teen. i wish i'd remembered them when i first started going to mass bc i'd probably have realized what i was doing a lot earlier and nipped it in the bud with therapy instead of going through months of awfulness and then more months of trying to break the habit. :c
